The Montana State University-Northern Skylights battled Lewis-Clark State on Saturday afternoon but fell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, at the P1FCU Activity Center.
The loss moved the Skylights to 4-2 on the season, while Lewis-Clark State remained unbeaten at 6-0.
Northern struggled to find its offensive rhythm early, hitting .103 in the opening set as Lewis-Clark State built an early advantage. The Skylights finished the match with 32 kills and a .150 hitting percentage, while the Warriors recorded 52 kills and hit .240.
The second set was Northern's strongest offensive showing. The Skylights recorded 15 kills while hitting .267, but Lewis-Clark State answered with 19 kills and a .333 hitting percentage to take the set 25-20.
Northern fought to stay alive in the third set, but the Warriors held on for a 25-22 victory to complete the sweep.
Josie Hasler led the Skylights offensively with eight kills, while
Holly Newman added seven kills and nine assists.
Macy Uffelman contributed five kills, and
Caleigh Case and
Kendall Scheffelmear each finished with four kills.
Emily Bird directed the Northern offense with 18 assists, while Newman added nine.
Kambria Maloy led the defensive effort with 12 digs, followed by Newman with 11 and Uffelman with 10.
Northern also made its presence felt at the net, recording seven team blocks compared to three for Lewis-Clark State. Case led the Skylights with four block assists, while Bilden and Scheffelmear each added three.
Lewis-Clark State was led by Hadyn Smith with 11 kills, while Michaela Romine added 10 and Karissa Lindner finished with eight. Kadence Moore paced the Warriors with 16 digs.
The Skylights will head be on the road to Billings and Helena next weekend.
