Game Recap:
The Lights welcomed the Frontier Conference's top team to the Armory Saturday night. The Lights showed glimmers of hope of capturing a win, as they trailed by as little as 3 going into the intermission. Steadily, after halftime, the Bulldogs relied on efficient shooting as they grew their lead to as much as 22 with 6:30 remaining in the game. That's when the Lights started their comeback attempt. Twice as quickly as UMW built their comfortable lead, they saw it dwindle to 7 with :44 seconds remaining in the game.
Adam Huse cashed a deep three as he sparked a barrage of three pointers during the Lights' 17-2 late second-half run.
Devin Bray kept the kept the charge going on the Lights ensuing possession also connecting from three. Huse and Bray each hit 2 three pointers during the run while
Gabe Porter made one.
Charles Porter also contributed with eight points in those last six minutes. The Bulldogs shot an efficient 50% from three point land on 6/12 and totaled 67% on 35/50 from the field. In comparison The Lights shot 37% from downtown and totaled 46% from the field on 28/61 shooting.
Ryan Reeves added to his nation-leading shot block total with 3 on the night, and also led the Lights in scoring with 20. Lights Forward
Justin Dunsmore tallied 16 to go along with 5 boards and 2 assists.
Devin Bray shot 5/9 from three finishing with 15 points and 2 steals.
Charles Porter was the fourth Light in double digit scoring with 11 points, 3 assists and 1 steal.
Stat of the Game: Accuracy from three, as The Lights missed 17 three point shots compared to UMW's 6 misses.
The Lights Now: The MSU-N men are still within postseason reach with a conference record of 5-5.
Next for the Lights: The Lights travel to Billings on February 1
st to take on Rocky Mountain College who are also 5-5 in conference play. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
