The preseason poll for basketball in the Frontier Conference was released October 11. The Montana State University-Northern Lights men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Frontier Conference by the league's coaches. The Northern Lights had three first place votes and all together garnered 30 points. Last year, the Lights finished in fourth place going 9-9 in conference and 18-14 overall.
