LIGHTS SIGN TWO TIME FIRST TEAM ALL-REGION AND 18-19 ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM, STANDOUT

Montana State University-Northern men's basketball coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of David Harris. Harris is a 6-foot-4 guard/forward from Tacoma, Wash. He recently completed two seasons at Highline Community College in Des Moines, Wash.

"David has an infectious positive energy and demeanor that really helps maintain a great team climate." Huse said. "He is a high character guy and we are extremely excited to have him on board. Not to mention, he has accomplished a great deal the past two years as can be seen by looking at his stats and honors."

He attended high school at Tacoma's Science and Math Institute (SAMI). However, SAMI does not have high school basketball. He played his final two years of basketball at Lincoln high school, while attending SAMI.

"I and Coach Dawson (Highline CC) really feel like his best basketball lies ahead of him." Huse said. His game continues to develop and improve more and more all the time.  Having started playing for a high school or college team only the past four (out of six) years, he has already done a remarkable job.  With what David does on the floor, he really helps fill voids left behind through Caulin and Justin graduating.  We are extremely excited to have him board!"

In the two seasons at Highline CC, Harris earned First team honors, averaging 19 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.1 steal, and 0.3 blocks per game for his career.  He shot high percentages from the field (52 percent), three-point line (40 percent), and free throw line (82 percent) for his career.  He helped Hiline to an overall record of 19-10 last season.

David will study Health and Human Performance at MSU-Northern.
