Montana State University-Northern head Cross Country coach Deborah Callahan has announced the signing of Kaitlyn Bancroft to join the Skylights program next year.

Kaitlyn joins the Skylights program as a transfer from Bismarck State College, where she ran cross country for them. Bancroft went to high school at Joliet Public Schools and graduated in 2023. In high school, her personal record was a time of 23:52.9.

"I'm very excited that Kaitlyn will be going to MSU-Northern and joining our Cross country and track team" said Coach Callahan.  "She has a great attitude, works hard, team player and understands the balance between academics and running.  We are looking forward to her contribution to the team."

She will be coming to Northern as a junior and will be studying English Education Secondary.
Coach Callahan adds, "Kaitlyn has the desire and determination to be successful as an individual and will make our team stronger.   I look forward to coaching her while watching her growth with us at MSU Northern."

When asked why she chose Northern she replied "The reason why I chose to go to MSU-Northern is to continue my education and get an education degree in English. The school that I attended previously did not have the degree that I was going into."

Kaitlyn is the daughter of Shane Bancroft and Toni Atkins.

"We are so proud of Kate's decision to change her direction and attend MSU Northern said Shane Bancroft. "The culture, the academic programs and athletics really suit her.  So excited for her new experience and future successes."
