On Friday Northern Men's team went to Rocky Mountain College's Last Chance Invite. They raced against Carroll, Rocky, Western, and Dickinson State.
Carroll won the meet, Rocky took second, and the Lights took 3rd just a couple points behind Rocky. Western and Dickinson both failed to score 5 runners.
"I wanted to score a little better and beat Rocky, we almost did" said Spangler. "But, Field and Liam both competed in the NAIA Half-Marathon qualifier 5 days earlier and I don't think they were 100% recovered from that. It was good they raced in the half, for them individually and I'm glad they did it, but it hurt the team score." Still the men averaged 27:30 for the 8K race which is faster than most of teams in the country. "I hope the raters see that this weekend and give us an at large to Nationals - that's what this was all about. This 7 - month cross country season is almost over....crazy. Whether we make it to Nationals as a team, I'm so proud of these guys for sticking with it and doing their best to put Northern Cross Country on the map."
