Lights Sign Ty Gilham from Browning

Montana State University-Northern Head Cross Country Coach Deborah Callahan announced the signing of Ty Gilham to join the Cross Country and Distance Track program in the fall.

"I'm very excited that Ty will be coming to MSU-Northern and joining our Cross Country and Track team" said Coach Callahan. "His focused attitude, eagerness to improve, and pride of teamwork will strengthen the team." "We are excited to be part of his advancing to the next level of his academic and athletic career.

Ty is from Browning, MT. As a runner in cross country, Ty achieved a personal best time of 18.29 in the 5000-meter event. On the track, his times continued to improve across multiple distances, including 1.04 s in the 400 meters, 2:30 in the 800 meters, 5.18 in the 1600 meters and a 12.50 in the 3200 meters. His athletic performance was key to Browning's achievements: 2nd place finish at the Western A Fall Classic for both 2025 and 2024, 3rd Place finish at the 2024 and a 1st Place finish in 2023 at the Class A State Cross Country Championship.
Ty showed commitment and adaptability in high school, earning letters and making the honor roll.

"Ty is a runner who knows where he wants to go and trains his butt off to get there." states Roy McNabb, Browning High School Cross Country Coach. "You will not find excuses coming out of him, just effort. He laces up and goes to work."

"Through running, Ty has developed a strong understanding of who he is, an awareness that has helped him grow both in his sport and in life" states Kellen Hall, AD for the Browning High School. "He consistently shows passion for running, which fuels his enthusiasm each day."
Ty is the son of William and Cheyenne Gilham. Cheyenne shared this prayer that the family uses, "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jacob plans to major in Integrated Health or Business, still undecided at this time. When asked why he chose Northern, he replied, "To run and achieve my academic goals!"  Coach Callahan states "We look forward to his contribution to the team and watching him grow here at Northern!"
