Montana State University-Northern Head Cross Country Coach Deborah Callahan announced the signing of Rebel Mays to join the Cross Country and Distance Track program in the fall. Coach Callahan expressed enthusiasm about Rebel's addition to the team noting "Although he has a relaxed quiet demeanor about him, when tasked to do something he is very responsive and gets it done. We look forward to his contribution to the team and watching him grow!"
Rebel is from Wolf Point, Montana, where he competed at Varsity level throughout his four years of high school. His personal best time for the 5000-meter cross country event is 17.30 earning him a ranking of 22
nd in Class B. In addition to running, Rebel displayed his athleticism on the basketball court. He also excelled academically, making the Honor Roll in his years at that high school.

At MSU Northern, Rebel plans to pursue a major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.

Wolf Point High Cross Country coach Stacey Summers shared her excitement for him stating "He is a natural-born athlete and has what it takes to compete in the next level! "Rebel is the son of Courtney Reddies and the grandson of Colleen Birdsbill. Colleen reflected on the family's journey, saying "We have been through happy times, sad times, problematic times, but we made it to the finish line. I wish you nothing but the best grandson! REMEMBER, you control your destiny."
When asked why he chose MSU Northern, Rebel responded, "I felt very welcomed during my tour at the college, and I am interested in the many opportunities that MSU Northern provides."
