The MSU-Northern cross country teams opened their season at the MSU Bobcat Twilight XC meet in Bozeman, facing off against a strong field of 10 teams.
In the men's 5K, three Lights competed among 82 runners. James Stensland-Playmale paced Northern with a 59th-place finish in 18:09.30. Donovan AimsBack followed in 65th at 18:35.40, while Wyatt Lowery crossed in 76th with a time of 19:47.00.
On the women's side, the Skylights placed sixth overall out of 10 teams in the 5K, which featured 74 runners. Sammie Wisher led the way with a 40th-place finish in 20:47.60. Elizabeth DeVries clocked 22:29.40 for 62nd, followed closely by Emerson Kinsella in 63rd at 22:43.80. Deserae Toombs finished 65th with a time of 22:51.10, and Kaitlyn Bancroft rounded out Northern's top five in 70th at 24:32.60.
Both the Lights and Skylights will return to action on Thursday, September 12, at 1 p.m. for the University of Providence Scrimmage in Havre.
