Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach has announced the signing of Neva Jacobson to join the Skylights next fall. Jacobson, a 5'9" guard from Malta, recently helped the M'Ettes to a runner-up finish at the 2026 Class B State Tournament.
This season, Jacobson averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals per game. She scored a season-high 33 points against Glasgow and finished her career with over 1000 points. She shot 72% from the free throw line, 49% from the field, and 30% from the 3-point line. She finished third all-time in steals (313) and fourth in 3-point field goals made (117) at Malta.
Mouat said, "We are really excited to add Neva to the Skylight program. She is a really well-rounded student-athlete who has been successful in all that she does. She is a proven winner and is extremely competitive. We really like how hard she plays and the level of competitiveness she brings. She is a tough-minded defender with active hands and comes up with a lot of steals and deflections."
During her four years at Malta, the M'Ettes qualified for the state tournament every year. Jacobson earned both All-Conference and All-State honors for each of the past three seasons.
Mouat added, "Neva is also a good offensive player. She can score at all three levels and shoots with good percentages. We are really looking forward to her progress in a Skylight uniform."
Jacobson has been a multi-sport standout at Malta. She has been a state qualifier in track and field, and was the district champion in the 100 meter hurdles in 2025. She also qualified for the state cross country meet in 2025, her first season participating in the sport.
In the classroom, Jacobson has also been outstanding. She carries a 4.01 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has earned Academic All-State honors a combined twelve times. She has been a member of the pep band and honor band, the Key Club, ReACT Prevention Group, and FCCLA.
Neva is the daughter of Katy Anderson and Gary Jacobson. She plans on majoring in Integrated Health Science at MSU-Northern.
