Skylights Sign SPSCC Standout Jaynee Tanner

Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Jaynee Tanner to join the Skylight program in the fall.  Tanner is a 6'1"forward from South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington.

This season, Tanner averaged 19.8 points and 16.8 rebounds, earning Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Region MVP, First Team All-Region, and All-Defensive Team honors.  She shot 45.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three-point line, and 83.5 percent from the free throw line.  In the entire NWAC, she was second in rebounds per game, third in points per game, and fourth in free throw percentage.  She also earned NWAC Player of the Week honors twice this season.

As a freshman, she averaged 14.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, earning NWAC West Region Freshman of the Year First Team All-Conference in the West Region, and West Region All-Defensive Team honors.  She ranked third in the NWAC in free throw percentage (83.2), third in field goal percentage (54.5), and third in rebounds per game (12.2).

Mouat said, "We are thrilled to have Jaynee on board and she is a very big sign for us.  She is an excellent player and a high-character, quality person and student.  She has had two great years playing for Coach Vining at South Puget Sound, and we are really looking forward to her progress in a Skylight uniform."

Mouat continued, "Jaynee is excellent on the boards at both ends and defends well in the post.  She can score inside and can stretch defenses with her ability to knock down the three-point shot with good percentages.  She is also unselfish and will fit into our system very well."

Tanner is a 2024 graduate of Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork, Utah.  During her career at Maple Mountain, she was a three-time All-State selection.

Mouat added, "Jaynee has done some exceptional things on the court, but is also very active in her community and on campus.  She will be an immediate, great addition to the Northern family.  She had a great visit here and connected very well with our staff and players, and we couldn't be happier to be getting such a well-rounded student-athlete."

In the community, Jaynee was a peer mentor for the South Puget Sound CC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Center and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for two years (serving as co-president her sophomore season).

Tanner has already earned her Direct Transfer Associates degree and carries a 3.74 grade point average.  She will major in Integrated Health Science at MSU-Northern.  Her parents are Jill Schriever, Pat Bohn, and Trent Tanner.
