Box Score Lewiston, Idaho- In their second game of a long road trip, the No. 16 Skylights fell to No. 7 Lewis-Clark Warriors 42-67. The loss moves Northern to 1-1 in Frontier Conference play (8-2 overall).
The Warriors played solid on the defensive end of the floor, holding the Skylights to shooting just 25 percent from the field and committing 16 turnovers. Lewis-Clark also held Northern to just seven points in the final quarter of play. The Skylights were held to a season low in points.
The contest started off closely as the Skylights traded a lead at 7:12 off of a tough jump shot from the inside the paint by
Jacy Thompson to put Northern up 7-6. That was the only lead the Skylights had for the rest of the game. The Warriors would finish out the first quarter ahead of the Skylights 18-13.
LC led by as many as 12 points midway through the second quarter, but Northern chipped away at the lead and a fast break drive to the basket by freshman
Shiloh McCormick brought the Skylights within four points with 1:07 left on the clock. Heading into the locker room at halftime, Northern was down 24-32.
The Skylights went on an 11-3 run in the third quarter. Northern's defense was able to hold the Warriors to just 8 points and LC took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter 40-35.
A cold shooting performance by the Skylights in the final stanza of the game allowed the Warriors to build their lead to a game high 25 points to finish out the game 67-42.
The Skylights were led in scoring by
Natalee Faupel with 14 points to go along with her 7 rebounds. Leading the Warriors was Natahnee Spencer with 20 points on 6-12 from behind the arc.
Basketball action returns to the Armory Gymnasium on Dec. 15
th as the Skylights and Lights host Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College. Women's game starts at 6:00 pm with the men's game following at 8:00 pm.
