Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Dulci SkunkCap to join the program in the fall.  SkunkCap is a 5-foot 9 guard from Browning High School, where she recently completed a highly successful career.

As a senior, SkunkCap earned All-State and First Team All-Conference honors as well as being named the Class A Northwest Most Valuable Player.  She was also a First Team All-Conference selection as a junior, and a Second Team All-Conference pick as a sophomore.  The three-year varsity player was also a First-Team All-Tournament selection at the 2018 Divisional Tournament in Butte, where she helped the Lady Indians to a runner-up finish. 

SkunkCap helped her teams earn Class A State tournament bids in 2018, 2019, and 2020.  She was the team's "Miss Defense" in 2018, a two-year team captain, and led the team in assists and steals as both a junior and senior.  As a senior, she averaged 12 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.7 steals per game.  Her 3.4 assists were good for fourth in all of Class A girls basketball.  She ranked in the top ten in six statistical categories in the Northwest A, and was in the top five in four categories in 2019-2020.  For her career, she scored over 500 total points, and her teams were a combined 28-2 in Northwest A competition.

"Dulci is a great addition to our program" said Mouat. "She has good length, sees the floor very well, and has a good all-around game.  She can really get to the rim and has the ability to be very explosive.  I like the fact that she can play a number of positions on the floor and love her competitiveness.  She comes from a basketball family and a strong program in Browning."

A two-sport standout, SkunkCap was also a two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention selection as a middle and outside hitter in volleyball.  A two-time team captain and team Most Valuable Player, she led Browning in blocks and kills for two straight seasons.

Mouat added, "Dulci does a great job, both on the court and off.  She is an excellent student and a strong addition for us.  I think she has a ton of potential and room for growth at the college level. We are looking forward to having her in a Skylight uniform and being a part of the Northern family."

Dulci is the daughter of Gayle and Kitty SkunkCap.  She carries a 3.9 grade point average and plans on majoring in health promotion or biology, and hopes to later attend physical therapy school.
