Rodeo Signs Mount Baker High school Standout Kellan Statham

Montana State University-Northern head rodeo coach Doug Kallenberger has announced the signing of rodeo standout Kellan Statham to join the Lights program next year.

Statham is a 6-foot-1 team roper, calf roper and steer wrestler from Cranbrook, British Columbia. He attended Mount Baker High School, where he competed on varsity all four years. In 2021, Statham was the Canadian High School Finals Steer Wrestling Champion. In 2023, he was a National Qualifier in Steer Wrestling. This year Kellan was the spring thaw Steer Wrestling Champion.

While Statham is here, he will be majoring in welding. He is the son of Jason Statham and Jodi Savage. Kellan is the brother of Kenda Statham, who is on the Northern Women's Rodeo team.

When asked why he chose Northern he replied "I chose MSUN because it's closer to home, it has a good rodeo team and coach as well as a good school course and a smaller school. Also, my sister goes here."
