Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach
Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Becky Melcher to join the Skylight program this fall. Melcher, a 5-foot-8 guard from Forsyth, recently finished a two-year career at Miles Community College.
This season, Melcher averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. She connected on 63 three-point field goals and scored in double-figures 19 times throughout the year.
"We are glad to have Becky on board" said Coach Mouat. "She has the ability to stretch the defense with her perimeter shooting and does good things in mid-range and at the rim."
For her career, she scored a total of 568 points and made 125 3-point field goals and shot 33 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line. She is also a career 78 percent free throw shooter. This season, Melcher earned Second Team All-Mon-Dak Conference honors.
Mouat added, "Becky has had a good two-year career at Miles Community College. She put up good numbers on the floor and was outstanding in the classroom. We look forward to her progress in a Skylight uniform."
Becky carries a 3.6 grade point average and plans on majoring in business at MSU-Northern. She has earned Academic All-Conference honors twice. Becky is the daughter of Robert and Marita Melcher.
