Many of these athletes also went on to receive swimming scholarships at larger schools. In 1968 he accepted a position as assistant professor of physical therapy at the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks. He worked as a physical therapist in Oregon from 1974 to 1978, taught anatomy at the University of California at Davis from 1978 to 1981 when he returned to the UND faculty. Currently an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and an adjunct instructor in the Department of Anatomy at UND, Keck retired in December, 1996.
