Larry D. Winters of Bloomington, Indiana, was a 1982 graduate of Northern. As a team leader, he was able to dominate the conference with his all-around ability. He is in the top 20 in scoring for Northern basketball players and was noted for his ability to elevate his level of play and help his teammates do the same. Winters earned many honors during his career at Northern, including first team all-conference, NAIA All District 12 team selection, and an All-American Honorable Mention. A scholar and an athlete, Larry has earned his Master's Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University with a 4.0 GPA. He was a respected and valued member of the community and contributed his time and talent coaching in the community and school youth programs in Havre. Larry is currently teaching Adaptive Physical Education, Personal Fitness, Basic Physical Education and Weight Training at Bloomington High School South. He has worked as a sports coordinator for Westside Community Center for eleven years, developing programs for both youth and adults. Larry coached boy's basketball since 1983, but became the varsity girl's head coach in 1999. He has also been the advisor of the Black Culture Club since 1991.
