Marv Sunderland graduated from NMC in 1967 where he was an All-Frontier Conference football player who has since gone on to make a name for himself in the world of NFL football. He signed with both the New Orleans Saints and the Calgary Stampeders but did not play for either team, opting instead to teach and coach. From 1967-70 he coached football at Chinook and Hardin High Schools in Montana, before becoming a coach and scout for North Dakota State University. From there he became a scout for the New England Patriots and then served as head scout for the New York Jets for 20 years. He was named one of the top ten scouts in the NFL and in 1998 became Player Personnel Director for the New York Giants.
