DeLayne Johnston-Robbins was born in Sidney, Montana, and played high school basketball in Richey, Montana. DeLayne came to Northern as a transfer from the University of Montana in 2004. She was a starter on the Skylights basketball team for two and a half seasons, accumulating 1,153 points and 728 rebounds over her career. During her junior season, the Skylights made their first national tournament appearance in five years, and finished in the round of 16. In two national tournament games that year, DeLayne notched two double-double performances. During that season the Skylights set four team records: free throw attempts (49), free throws made (36), overall free throw percentage (78.3%), and most assists (40). DeLayne was named four-time Academic All-Conference, twice named Frontier Conference First Team All-Conference, and in 2007 was named NAIA Third Team All-American. She graduated from Northern in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.
DeLayne lives in Baker, Montana, with her husband, Liam Robbins, and their twin sons, Declan and Reade. Although she has taken some time away from work to be with her sons, she is involved in city league sports and other community activities in Baker.
