Gerry D. Veis led his hometown, Scobey Spartans to the State Class C Championship in 1979 earning MVP honors and a first team All State Selection. He was one of the top Montana recruits that year and decided to play at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas for two years where he was the MVP his second year. With Northern, he was chosen second team All Conference in his junior year, and first team All Conference and first team NAIA All District 12 in his senior year when he led the conference in scoring with 21 points per game. A 1983 Northern graduate, Veis is second in the Northern record book for total points in a season at 590 and scored 920 points in two years. He actively supports and coaches girl's softball, grade school boys and girls basketball, and Little League Baseball and served on the boards of United Way, East End Rehabilitation, Havre Day Activity Center, the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees, and was President of the Northern Alumni Association Board.
