Chad Edgar grew up in Billings, MT and in his senior year at Billings Skyview High School was an individual state champion as well as captain of Skyview’s first-ever Class AA team championship. He attended North Idaho Junior College for two years before transferring to MSU-Northern in 1996. While at Northern Edgar was a standout competitor. During the 1996-97 season, he compiled a 38-6 record, placed 1st at the Northern Regional tournament, and placed 3rd at the National tournament. In the 1997-98 season Edgar’s record was 22-5, and he placed 3rd at the Northern Regional tournament. Edgar was crowned NAIA 1998 National Champion in the 141 pound weight class. That year, with Edgar as the team captain, the Lights Wrestling Team won the NAIA National Championship.

After graduating from Northern in 1998 with a degree in Biology, Edgar returned to Billings where he served as assistant wrestling coach at Billings Skyview, helping the Falcons win two Class AA Championships. Edgar then moved back to Havre, where he has served as Havre High School’s assistant wrestling coach for more than a decade, helping the Blue Ponies win eight Class A State Wrestling titles. In 2004 he was hired as Superintendent of Beaver Creek Park – the largest county park in the United States.

In addition to his work with Havre High School, Edgar has spent many years running Havre Middle School’s wrestling program, organizing and hosting summer wrestling camps in Havre, and supporting Northern’s wrestling program. He has been vital in helping Northern recruit Havre High wrestlers. Edgar and his wife Sara work and live in Beaver Creek Park with her daughter Keylee.
