Dick Scharfe graduated from NMC in 1967 where he was a member of the 1967 men's golf  team. Scharfe led this all-star team to the Frontier Conference Golf Crown his senior year by winning the Frontier Conference individual title. He then joined the team as they went on to represent Montana at the NAIA National Tournament in Iowa later that year. Scharfe has worked in private accounting for Potlatch Forests, Inc. and in public accounting. He opened his own practice in 1990, and has continued to be active in the Havre golf community as a member of the Havre Men's Golf Association. He also helped to organize the Havre Girls' Softball Association and served on their board of directors.
