Jaci Heny started her career at Powell High School in Powell, WY under the tutelage of coach Dale Anne Meeker. She played on the varsity team for four years and was selected to both the All-Conference and All-State teams in 2001 and 2002. Heny attended Sheridan Junior College and played two years under coach Frank McCarthy. She was named to the Region IX All-Conference team and All-Tournament team in 2004.

After receiving an Associate of Science degree from Sheridan, Heny came to MSU-Northern to play for Mike Erickson. As a Skylight, Heny was selected to the All-Conference team in 2005 and 2006 and was selected to the 2nd team All-American in 2006. Heny currently holds five scoring records at Northern including: points in a single game (40), points in a season (616), highest season scoring average (20.5), and most free throws made and free throws attempted in a season (229/268). Heny is 9th on the list of Skylight all-time leading scorers with 1,045 points. After her final year of playing, Heny helped coach the Skylights in 2007 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education.

Heny accepted a teaching position in Douglas, WY and was named the head girls basketball coach. In her six years there, her teams amassed a record of 126 wins and 44 losses, won two regional championships, and were state runners-up once. Heny was named Conference Coach of the Year three times. She was instrumental in helping recruit Douglas High School grad and current Skylights point guard Molly Kreycik. During that time Heny also received a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from the University of Concordia. In 2013, she was hired as the assistant coach at the University of Great Falls and in the 2014-15 season she helped lead the Argos to their first national tournament appearance and an elite eight finish. In 2015, Heny decided it was time to move home to Wyoming and accepted a position as Recreation Supervisor in Powell, WY, where she currently resides.
